Motivate This! – Entry #001

Being citizens of the modern age I’m sure we’ve all happened across those “positive affirmation/motivational” pictures while online.

You know the ones.

Allegedly profound words that are typically set against a beach at sunset or, alternatively, emboldened words on a flat background. Designed to affirm and/or motivate.

We all have at least one friend on facebook that is compelled by an unknown force, possibly Morgan Freeman, to spew out these supposed wise-bombs ad nauseum.

So, in the spirit of pointing out how utterly ridiculous and completely nonsensical these words/pictures can be, I present this inaugural post.

There is so much wrong with this I don’t even know where to start.

But I’ll try anyway.

Firstly, there is no be you in beautiful. It’s just not there. Last time I checked the word wasn’t spelled beyoutiful, as the picture itself clearly illustrates.

Secondly, all letters necessitated to spell be you cannot be found in the word beautiful.

There is no happy in happiness either.
There is no “happy” in “happiness” either.

To the people reading this that are thinking, or possibly screaming at the screen, “Hey you giant misanthropic asshat, lighten up. It’s the sounds. Be-you-tiful. It’s all in the sounds” I say congratulations; you’re aware of phonics.

But I’ll remind you, the picture says nothing about how the word sounds. It clearly says SPELL. “You can’t spell beautiful without be you.”

“You can’t sound beautiful without be you” would be entirely more accurate. But equally stupid.

So, in summation, you can spell beautiful without be you. If fact, that’s entirely how you spell it.

    1. Why thank you! I’m not entirely sure what a Liebster is but, as you’ve gone to the trouble of nominating me, I’m more than happy to make the effort and look it up. Watch this space!
